Meet Karrie

Hi, I’m Karrie—One of the 2 hearts behind Bayou Books & Beans, where every page turns into an adventure and every cup of coffee tells a story.

I’m a former award-winning coffee shop and bookstore owner who decided one chapter wasn’t enough. After years of owning a brick-and-mortar shop, I traded four walls to team up with my very good friend, Anita, for a nationwide online storefront, bringing together our favorite things: books, locally inspired coffee, Louisiana gifts, cozy reading accessories, and a little Southern charm.

When I’m not curating the perfect mystery book box or hunting down unique Bayou treasures, you’ll probably find me wearing one of my many other hats. I’m a past English teacher who loves inspiring readers of all ages, and currently a Financial Controller who somehow finds joy in spreadsheets and balancing budgets, and an entrepreneur who’s always dreaming up the next big idea.

I’m also a children’s author, creator of The Adventures of Eli & Teddy, where imagination, family, and watercolor adventures come to life. Whether I’m writing books, building businesses, creating games for online communities, or designing something new, creativity is always brewing.

At Bayou Books & Beans, I believe every great day starts with coffee, a good book, and a little Louisiana magic.

Meet Anita

If there’s one thing Anita believes, it’s that the best inspiration is found outdoors with family. 

A true artist at heart, Anita creates beautiful handmade pieces inspired by the beauty of the Louisiana bayous, winding waterways, wildlife, and the simple moments that make life special. From the texture of an alligator’s scales to the peaceful stillness of a fishing trip at sunrise, nature is woven into many of the items she creates.

When she isn’t crafting her next unique piece, you’ll likely find her exploring the bayou, spending time on the water with her family and a fishing pole in hand, watching wildlife, or soaking in the quiet beauty that only nature can provide. Her creativity comes from the world around her, transforming everyday moments into one-of-a-kind treasures made with passion and care.
