My Camel Wants To Be a Unicorn by Julia Inserro (Author)

This little girl's pet camel has a problem. The camel keeps doing these weird things, but then refuses to communicate what she actually needs. The girl tries everything to cheer her camel up, from rollercoasters to alfalfa ice cream to star gazing, but nothing works.
 
She's worried her camel might have low self-esteem. She assures her that she doesn't need her to be anything fancy and frilly. She loves and accepts her just as she is. Could this be all her camel needs? Just some reassurance and kindness?
 
Sometimes friendships can be challenging. You don't always know what your friend needs. But if you combine a little bit of being kind with a dash of understanding and just a touch of empathy, you can probably be more helpful than you realize. Especially when dealing with a mopey camel.
